is there a statute of limitations on a divorce i have been going through a divorce for 5 yrears as of june 2nd i have my attorney has filed all the appropriate paper work, the problem is that my wifes attorney as done nothing since my wife still owes her money i dont see how i can be held responceable, and it feels like i am being held hostage in this marriage that has been over for atleast 6 yrs sonce i left in september of 2004. please help me

First, since you have an attor ney it is not ethical for me to interfere in your relationship. ou should direct your questions to your attorney.

Moreover, I do not understand what you are asking. There is no statute of limitations in a divorce action. The parties can get divorced at any time. Where parties both consent to a divorce, they can get a divorce in 90-120 days. If one party does not consent, the waiting period is 2 years at whict time you can move for divorce. If the property issues are not resolved, you can ask that the court "bifurcate" the proceedings by granting the divorce and resolve the property issues later. That way you are not held hostage. Nor are you hostage to your wife's attorney. You need to get your attorney, since you have one, to move this along.
