Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
Step parent custody rights
My fiance and his ex have joint custody of their daughter. In a few months my fiance will be leaving for 6 months to attend boot camp for the Navy. His ex does not want me caring for their daughter while he is gone and is considering taking us to court to change the custody before he leaves so I cannot see his daughter. If we push up our wedding and get married before he leaves, will she have any legal right to take the child away from me or will I ''inherit'' my fiance's custody rights?

Re: Step parent custody rights
The custody order and or agreement is between your husband and his ex wife. Unless there is some agreement to allow you to see the children or a modification of the custody order which would give you some type of visitation then you may not have any legal right to the chi.dren I suggest your husband consider modification of the order to allow you some visitation
In any event it is a complex matter with many issues I suggest you meet with a lawyer for a consultation. If you would like to schedule an appointment with my office you may contact me.
