Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Step-parent adoption

My husband adopted my child after two years of marriage. We didn't go through a home-study or background check. We went to the hearing and he was adopted. My son's natural father never showed up. He was served though. Almost two years later, I went to get a copy of his birth certificate and SS card and they both came back with his birth name. I called Vital records and their was no application to change anything or issue a new birth certificate. My husband and I only went to one hearing and the lawyer told us he would handle the rest. My son was born in New Jersey but adopted in Lebanon County PA where we lived. My question is ''Has the adoption gone through or since it's been so much time between, do I have to sign again to make sure it goes through?''

Re: Step-parent adoption

All you need do is take a certified copy of the adoption papers and apply to have the birth certificate changed.

The adoption was final 30 days after the judge signed the order.

You also probably need to update social security as well.
