Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Hi my name is taylor. I am 17 years old and close to 18. When i turn 18 i want to fight for custody of my 16 year old friend whose mother beats her and leaves marks. How should i do this. What do i need to do to win and what do i need to win?

Sorry but you like standing to bring a custody action. To have standing you would have to be the parent of the person you want to have custody of. Next in line are possibly grandparents, generally unrelated 3rd parties can not sue for custody.

As the above post mentioned, you will not be able to sue for custody as you do not have standing in such a case.

The next best option would be to see if she would qualify for an emancipation. You should have her consult with an attorney to see what her options are. Feel free to give me a call if you would like to discuss this further or if she would like to proceed with a posible emancipation petition.
