Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Terminating child support

I still pay child to the child mother, but the child is currently living with me. Michigan Friends of the courts advised me for the support to stop:

The person receiving the support would have to submit a letter requesting for the support to stop.

Or I would to hire an Attorney which I cant afford.

Is there anything else that could be done to terminate the support.

Re: Terminating child support

If you are paying support you can file for a modification. In Pennsylvania that is something that you can do yourself. You need to fill out a form and pay about $15. Because your support case is in Michigan you might have to contact the office that issued the support order. If your support payments are going through your local DRO you should be able to go there and file. The only proof you need to file is an order showing that you have custody of the child. By the way there is a possibility that the child's mother owes you support.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
