Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

transferring divorce case to another state

I filed for uncontested divorce in CA. A case number is assigned, my spouse has been served and signed the paperwork. My spouse lives in PA and I have recently moved to KY. How can I transfer the case to PA to speed the divorce process along?

You can not transfer a divorce from one state to another. The divorce law in California is different from the divorce law in Pennsylvania so its best to just start over.

If you want to proceed in Kentucky, then you will need to have the California action dismissed and then file in Kentucky. The downside to doing so is that you would have to attempt to have your spouse served again.
