Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

video taping a custody pick up and drop off

What is the legal allowance of parent to video tape the events for protection of self and child?

This is important. We were adviced by family center employees to video tape these for our own protection. This is after they had encounters with the resistant mother to allow visitations of father and his family with child who is six years old. Please help us in this matter.

Re: video taping a custody pick up and drop off

Videotaping another is covered under the wiretap law in PA. Generally, you cannot make sound recordings of another even in a face to face situation. Therefore if the there is an audio portion of the video tape than you've broken the law and its a 3rd degree felony.

There are ways around this but they require getting permission of all parties.

I don't suppose those family center employees were lawyers.
