Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

visitation

My divorce papers state that I can have my son every other weekend and every other holiday.Since my divorce I moved to Florida, and can not afford to fly my son down here every other weekend. I would like him to visit me over the Christmas break. He is 13 years old and I can get him on a non-stop flight right to me. However my ex-wife will not allow him to fly alone even after I said I would pay extra for an escort. She said I must fly up there and get him and fly him back. After recearching airfares I found this would be over $2500.00 which I can not afford. What are my options here?

Thank you so much for any help you may be able to offer

Re: visitation

You asked about visitation over a holiday and child taking a flight.

This question must either be settled by the parties or settled by the court or an appropriate designee. The problem with the latter is that any court hearing would need to take place locally in Pennsylvania.

Point out to her that she could probably be responsible for half of the cost for such a trip. While you are fully willing to absorb the costs associated with flying the child there and back her option would require that she pay half of the entire cost (maybe also that she must be the person to come down and escort him back).

This is really a matter for negotiation. Research the matter and present the best case you can. Find out what her concerns are and alleviate each and every one. She has a right to address concerns but not such much so that they are unreasonable.
