Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania
I want to know if I will recieve custody of my son and not lose him.
I am an unmarried mother who just left her boyfriend ........My ex boyfriend's parents want to get custody or visitation rights of my son.....my ex boyfriend also wants to take my son for a week every month and have him stay in erie pennsylvania when my sons home is in new bethlhem pennsylvania .......My son is only 3 months old and i feel that my son being with me is a crucial need at his age......what should i do and what are my chances of obtaining custoday of my son and not taking his father out of his life.........i want my son to have a father in his life and do not care if my ex comes to visit him or takes him for a weekend here or there but i do not feel comfortable with him going soo far away . my son;s father has no job but i do carry a job that pays 8 dollars an hour. i have a home and my ex boyfriend does not he is living with his parents . his step dad has a drug and alchohol problem and his mother is very ill .i dont feel that that environment is safe for my son ...........What are my options and what can i do ..

The fact that the child is so young and that you have a home are very favorable. The distance factor would seem to warrant longer periods of custody/visitation. Instead of him taking your child for 1 week a month it may be possible for him to agree to a longer summer period of continuous visitation (1-2 months) along with monthly weekend visitation. I find that often negotiated agreements are better for all the parties and can avoid disputes later on. I offer free consultations.
