Family medical benefits

HI...husband had a stem cell transplant...works for the City of Phila...granted the FML..he just entered into his 13 week...still in hospital...are there more benefits under the FML or do we just kick into his sick time...

You asked about FMLA leave.

By law, sick time and any other accrued leave are used before FMLA leave begins to be used unless the employer has another policy in place.

An issue to check is to see how the employer accounts for FMLA leave. There are a number of schemes for acounting for FMLA leave and in some cases an employee may be able to take 24 weeks of FMLA leave in some circumstances.
