FMLA availabilty for grandparent

As the parent of a monor daughter who has given birth. Is it possible for me to take FMLA so she can return to highschool?

Good for you. Yes, you may use FMLA leave for this purpose. It is explicitly what FMLA is intended for. Also make certain to investigate and tap other resources for mothers still in school (the state and communities have many resources available.

Speak with your employer and work with them to come up with the best plan to work out when to take off. You may even be able to work out a telecommute or flex-time situation that will work even better with the FMLA.

Final note: make certain your daughter knows that her education does not end with high school graduation. Whether college or trade school she must continue (and right now learning a skilled trade is more valuable than many professions).

Make certain that your daughter creates estate documents now that she has a child (and make certain that yours are in order).
