Legal Question in Medical Leave in Pennsylvania
fmla in Pennsylvania for soul caretaker
what good is this law for an small business that has less than 20 employee's?? I am the soul caretaker of my husband who is diabled and requires lots of doctor apppointments to drive him to. My employers makes me take 1/2 days or whole vacation days if I need to take him to appointments instead of taking the hours without pay. Can they do this, also I am not allowed to receive doctor calls for him either on my cell phone. They give me such a fuss that I am so stressed upon stress that I don't know what to do. I feel that I am being harrassed and forced to leave. They now have all kind policies now which there weren't before. My husband had a massive stroke which left him with aphasia, and many other problems. This is why I need to take him to the doctors also

Re: fmla in Pennsylvania for soul caretaker
You asked about FMLA leave.
It is well established law that an employer may require that FMLA leave be taken in whole day increments. To my knowledge there is no rule that suggests an employer must give hourly increments of FMLA leave. In my opinion it is pretty reasonable for an employer to accede to half day leaves when that is not required by the law.
