Co-signer is not the same as co-owner. If she is only on the finance papers, then no. She cannot take your car. That would be theft. If she is aco-owner, then she can. My guess is that you are behind on the car payments and the finance company is now calling her. Get caught up and reimburse the funds, if any, paid by your mother. Co-signing is a bad deal - your failure to pay goes on her credit report. Don't do this in the future.
