Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

My boyfriend and I signed a 2 year lease for an apartment. One of the utility bills is also in both of our names. He has been living with a friend for nearly the entire length of the lease. We are no longer together. My question is: Since he is bound to the lease for the apartment, can I pursue legal action if he does not pay 1/2 half rent and 1/2 the utility in both our names?

I suppose you could but does he have any money?

You and he are jointly and severally liable for the rent and the utility bill. That is if you didn't pay the rent the landlord could come after just you or just him or the both of you for the rent.

If he hasn't lived there he isn't using the utilities, you might get some assistance on the rent depends on the rest of the facts. Good luck to you.
