Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

My car was stolen and wrecked by a juvenile and his case was dismissed because the arresting officer did not appear for the hearing. Can I sue his parents for reimbursement of out of pocket repair charges (approx $1800) in civil court or do I have to go thru a district magistrate?

You can file a lawsuit against the parents, and quite frankly, against the teenager as well. In Pennsylvania, parents are responsible for a small amount of damages caused by their children. I believe that the amount is limited to $1000 if one person is damaged, or $2500 if more than one person suffers damage. I havent looked at that law in awhile, but it still does exist, and maybe the amounts that I have referenced have changed.
