Re: civil court

In criminal court you are required to appear and you generally have to sign a subpoena each time the court schedules a hearing. In Civil Court you do not have to appear unless you are a party and were served with a Notice to Attend or a Subpoena. There are situations where you may not want to appear, especially when you are a defendant in a civil case and where the plaintiff does not have sufficient evidence to prove his or her case.
