Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

I have been contacted by a debt collector saying they represent a payday loan that I took out and didn't fully repay. They are demanding payment or threatening to sue. The problem is I don't know if these are legit or not. I asked them to send something in writing, but they have refused. Im not sure what to do.

If they won't send something in writing, they are not legitimate. DO NOT PAY them. Even if they were "legit", payday loans are illegal in PA . They will not sue you.
