Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Criminal Mischief

On Monday, July 23, I broke the Delta Sigma Delta Frat house window, because I left my personals in there. I usually don't work up there so I didn't have a locker. Campus police gave me a non-traffic citation for Criminal Mischief. I admit I did break the window, I am not fully sure of how much I will be fined and if I will go to jail for this. Also it most likely is, but can employers just terminate my employment and expect me to pay $1000+ all at once?

Re: Criminal Mischief

If the police are only charging you with a summary, which it sounds like, they aren't looking at this as the crime of the century and you can probably work out something with the fraternity for restitution. I don't think the fine will be that high. As for your employer, a lot depends on your employer's policies, whether you are in a union, your relationship with your supervisor, and too many other things to allow a definitive answer.
