Home owners insurance dropped

My son fell underneath his granpa's riding mower in oct 2008. He went outside while he was mowing the grass, he told him to get back in the house he started back and apparently the grass was wet and he fell underneath it (he was 3 at the time). The company is willing to pay the amount of there insurance but now is dropping them and they have to find a new inurance company.

They have had this company for over 40 years.

Is this legal? It seems so unfair.
