Should I get a lawyer

My son recently hit another child and is being charged with assault. The police officer that called and informed us of this also told us that the other childs parents are pursuing a civil suit against my wife and I.Can they legally take any of my assets an should I get a lawyer?

you should immediately report this to your homeowners insurance comapny, should you have one. You should also hire an attnyt o protect your assets and your child against criminal charges
