Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania
Libel Online Casino
I am currently trying to collect money from an online casino. I am a Webmaster signed up as an affiliate with the website I am trying to collect the money from. The contact I have at this website accused me of cheating online Sports books and Casinos and said, ''I will spread the word out about you!'' He has no justification to support his claim and if he did spread the word it will greatly hinder my ability to do business with other online sports books and casinos. Can I sue him for loss of business, the cost to re-name my corporation, get a new tax id and other expenses that I will incur setting up a new business entity?

You may have several issues regarding your ability to conduct the business you have chosen.
However, to answer your question regarding libel, the technical term for the theory of law you are referring to is "defamation". First there is a limitation that such an action must be brought within one year of the injury. Keep that in mind. Second, only statements of fact are actionable. Opinions are perfectly permissible and not a reason to sue. For example, if the potential defendant were to say he thinks you are a poor businessman, that is not a statement which would allow you to sue. Third, the truth is a complete defense. If he makes a statement which he can prove is true, you have no action. Finally, you must prove that you have been damaged by the statement.
I trust this has been helpful, but feel free to call or e-mail for a free initial consult.

You should retain a lawyer to advise you.
My immediate reaction (just off the top of my head, and not to be taken as legal advice) is that operating a casino site and operating a gambling business from Pennsylvania (if that's what you're going) is a criminal enterprise and the courts generally are not going to help parties to an illegal transaction.
