Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania
non payment for services rendered
I'm a self employed notary loan closer. A company contracted me for closings Nov. 06-June 07. Owes me $725. Many attempts to collect, unsucessful.Can I ask for treble damages ? Magistrate 1st? Civil, statutory damages? Thanks.

Your cause of action would be for breach of contract. The best you get is the benefit of the bargain. That is you were to be paid $500 that is all you could recover.
If you could recover treble damages for non payment of services rendered the attorneys of Pennsylvania would be all over it.
If your claim is for less than $8000 you are in District Magistrate Court.
