Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Ex owes money for bills

My exboyfriend, before he and his 16 yr old daughter moved out, stated that he would pay half of 3 credit card bills, amounting to $5,000. The cards were used to buy food, clothing, birthday and christmas presents. He did sign his name when he used the cards, but I do not have those receipts. I recently contacted him because he swore he would pay, he stated it was my stupidity for letting he use the card, and its all on me. Is there anything I can do to get money back?

Re: Ex owes money for bills

You certainly have the right to sue him. I would recommend going down to your local small claims court. (In Philadelphia, this is the Municipal court at 34 S. 11th Street - in all other counties, small claims court is the local district justice.) It doesn't really make sense to hire an attorney, as an attorney would take up most of the recovery you are seeking. The folks at small claims courts are, generally speaking, friendly people who will help you with the paperwork. Good luck.
