Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Hi. Quick question. I have a civil suit pending against an ex-fiance. She is in possession of a lot of my personal belongings, thus I had to file a civil suit. The court hearing is this Tuesday. If I win judgement, is she required to give me my belongings back? I know she will most likely appeal if I do indeed win. Does she have the right to hold onto the items while she files for an appeal or does she have to relinquish them to me? I am in PA if it makes a difference. Thank you!!

Did you specifically sue her for the return of your property or did you sue her for the value of the property? If you sued her to return the property and you win on Tuesday, the judge will give her a deadline to return the property or suffer contempt of court. If she appeals, you can ask the court to order her to deposit a bond while the case is pending. You can also ask the judge to order her to release the property while the case is pending. Or you can ask the judge to appoint a neutral third-party to hold the property while the case is pending.

Good luck.
