Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

re-imbursement of extra expenses after auto accident

my wife's car was in an auto accident in philadelphia a few months ago. my daughter was driving the car and it was stopped at a red light. an older gentleman driving behind her, passed out and hit my wife's car from behind which was then pushed into a car in front of her. fortunately, my daughter was not injured but the car was totalled. it was a 1995 mitubishi eclipse with about 87,000 miles but it was in excellent condition. we received $4170.00 from our insurance co. and $500.00 from the other fellows insuance co. since my daughter needs the car for work, we had to purchase another car. we got a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse which cost us $9000.00 in addtion to the monies we received from the insurance cos. can we recoup any of the extra expenses since the older gentleman admitted to causing the accident?

through no fault of ours this accident has caused us a lot of aggravation not to mention the expense of getting another car.

Re: re-imbursement of extra expenses after auto accident

The only thing you can do is put in a claim for personal injuries. If your daughter was not injured then she has no claim. I suggest you obain legal counsel to evaluate your daughter's claim. Please keep in mind there are time limitations to pursue such a claim. You should get an evaluation at the earlier possible time. Attorneys usually take this type of case on a contingent fee basis and no fee is charged to the client. Gerald Hershenson Esq.
