Re:Undue Prejudice

I'm still a little confused, you can amend a complaint to change the outcome you want, is that right? Like if a person or lawyer files a complaint, receives an answer, realizes that what they are suing for isn't likely to succeed so they change the remedy? Is that allowable or would that be considered undue prejudice since now the defendant has to come up with an all new argument?

What in the Sam Hill does undue prejudice have to do with this?

If you wish to modify a complaint you have to ask permission of the court (you can also ask the opposing party to agree) via a motion, The time to get the complaint right is before you file it.
