Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

sister rivalry

My sister and I have been at each other for years. She is 18 and I am 17. She went out to my car today and keyed the entire passenger side. Without sueing her insurance, which is under my mothers, is there any other legal steps I could take to make her pay for this. My mother witnessed this and I have photos. I'm soon going to go to find an estimate on how much this will cost. Anyway, my question to you is, what legally can I do about this without harming my mother's insurance.

If you make a claim against the insurer of the car they would file a suit against your sister to recover.

You never sue someone's insurer you sue the person. In fact under the federal rules of evidence the fact that the other party is insured is inadmissible. Even bringing it up in court could lead to a mistrial.

Because mom is a witness why not try to settle this with in the family. After some courts frown on family members suing each other.
