suite-defamation,slander

when filling suite for defamation of character &/or slander what evidence is needed?-- what does the person filling suite have to prove and how?

PA has a statute which lays it out, but essentially, the plaintiff must show that the defendant said or wrote something defamatory (that means, that harmed your reputation), that third parties heard this, that you suffered damages as a result; under some circumstances, you may also have to show that the statement was false, that the defendant knew it was false, or the defendant was negligent at least, and that the statement was not privileged.
