Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania
Title lien
I was to appear in court in Trenton,N.J. concerning a law
suit filed against me. I failed to appear on the date and
a judgment or lien was placed against my title in Penna.
I would like to know when and if this lien is expunged from
my title or if it remains on my title indefinitely.
I will give you the background of the suit. In 1995, I went
on my Honeymoon to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The travel
agency messed up our reservations and we were sent to (3)
other resorts until we settled in. I called the travel agent
and complained. The agent told me that the flight, accomodations would be paid for by the agency due to the
error. The agent also said that they would also send me a
check for $1000.00 for our inconvenience. This all happened
and about 3 months later, the owner of the agency called me
and said that I had to return the $1000.00. I ignored her
and thus the suit. She filed (2) suits, one against the travel agent and myself, and another one against me. The
first suit against the agent and myself was settled, but by
failing to show up in court on the specified date, a lien was placed against my property.

Re: Title lien
I suggest you consult legal counsel immediately. Your failure to show up in Court created problems. You might have to petition the court in New Jersey to open the judgment. You delay in reacting is jeapodizing your situation. They will have a valid lien against your property if you own the property in your individual name. However the entire matter must be reviewed. Do not sit on your legal rights.
