Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Won a jugment

I won a jugment against a contractor. His 30 days are up, he still has not paid me. What are my options to get my money. Someone told me I could get the Sheriff to collect it, is that true? He flips houses and currently has one he is working on. Am I better off to put a lien on that house? Does he have to pay me interest?

Re: Won a jugment

1. Interest is 6% per year from date of judgment

2. Best way to collect is, if you know defendant's bank, to attach the bank account. If the judgment was in DJ court, you need to file the judgment in the county common pleas (CP) court so that it will be a lien. Call the Prothonotary in the CP court & ask what docs it needs to transfer judgment from DJ to CP court. Usually need certified copy of DJ docket & a fee. Also, make sure you're filing the judgment in every CP county court where the D owns property. Call if any questions. Good luck!
