I am writing a book about a life project of mine. I wish to cite the names of the people who helped me. Do I need theri permission to use theri names?

Generally, no. Be careful, though, not to say anything negative about these people or reveal confidential or private information about them. If you really have any questons or concerns, you might want to contact them, if you can, and tell them what you intend to do. they might be honored to learn that they had a positive impact on your life. Also, don't attempt to publish any photos of them, as that might open you up to liability. We still have freedom of speech and freedom of the press in this country, and so long as you tell the truth, the First Amendment protects your rights.
