Legal Question in Health Care Law in Pennsylvania

doctors overcharging

In May I went to the doctor to have a tick removed. The doctor charged me $338 to pour on some alcohol and remove the tick with a tweezers. Is it legal to charge someone that outrageous amount of money for a simple procedure like that? I was in the waiting room longer than I was with the doctor!

Re: doctors overcharging

Did you know how to remove the tick by yourself? Well, that's why you went to the doctor. His time is his time, irrespective of the complexity of the treatment. By your logic, a psychiatrist should only charge $5 an hour, because anyone can listen to someone talk. And everyone waits in the waiting room longer than they actually are with the doctor. That's why it's called the waiting room.
