Legal Question in Health Care Law in Pennsylvania

Medical Malfunction?

I went in over the weekend to have my appendex removed. Before I could have that done I had to get a cat scan. The tech said they just had someone out to fix the machine that shoots the dye into you system so they can locate it.During that process, not only did the machine shoot the dye but it also shot a large air bubble that went into my heart. We found out about this 3 hours later right before surgery so I had to be admitted into the ICU and lay a very uncomfortable way way during and after the surgery till the next day so the air buble would works its way out and wouldn't cause me a massive heart attack or any kind of congested heart failure. Does this sound like I have a legal case?

It definitely sounds as if you might have a case. I know one of the best medical malpractice attorneys in the city. Feel free to call or e-mail me and I will give you her contact information. She's a registered nurse and a lawyer, and works for a very prestigious malpractice firm.

Re: Medical Malfunction?

My goodness -- I hope you're past the point of danger. If not, focus all your energy on that and don't hesitate to ask for second opinions and to ensure you know exactly what's going on.

Hopefully, all's well that ends well. Nonetheless, if you have any lingering side effects, increased risks, or concerns about your health, you should speak with a medical malpractice attorney. My firm handles medical law practice claims and would be happy to review your case, or you can find attorneys through lawyers that you know, through Internet sites such as this one, or through your local county bar association.

Keep in mind that Pennsylvania has a two-year statute of limitations for most medical malpractice claims. Thus, if your procedure was last weekend, you have some time, but once you're through your current treatments you might want to start looking.
