Legal Question in Health Care Law in Pennsylvania
paying medical bills without health insurance
My husband passed away on July 30 and we have no health ins. His bills are over $100,000.00. I live in Pa. and I tried for welfare assistance. They sent me a letter after getting all my info and it said if I pay $14,438.00 that the rest of his bills will be covered. My lawyer is telling me to do nothing. He told me I should not have to pay anything and to just wait. But I always thought that when you are married you were responsible for your spouse. I am very worried about this and I just want to know once and for all if I have to pay. Please advise me asap.
