Legal Question in Health Care Law in Pennsylvania
My wife was injured on 31 July 2017, and taken to Mercy in Pittsburgh, pa. She spent more than 2 weeks in ICU and then was moved to the 11th floor. Now, they are insisting on discharging her tomorrow 8/18/2017, but she is still can't even move or be moved. When nurses try to turn he over to clean her, she screams so loud she can be heard in the hall through a closed door.
The social worker and I were talking on the phone the other day about a place she. might go and I said the place sounded okay. Today I told the social worker I would not sign a release until my wife is able to talk and move a little bit. The social worker said I can't prevent the hospital from discharging my wife because I verbally agreed to the discharge when I agreed with her that a possible rehab place sounded okay. So they don't need signed permission for her release. If I talked to a social worker and not a hospital official from the Admissions/Discharge office did I really "give" the hospital permission for them to discharge my wife? Or does the hospital need a signed release from me before they can release her?
