Legal Question in Immigration Law in Pennsylvania

Accepting Foreign Citizenship

I am an American married to a foreign citizen. I would like to accept my spouse's country's citizenship through a post-nuptial declaration.

Will doing this affect my U.S. citzendhip?

Re: Accepting Foreign Citizenship

You haven't provided enough information to make a determination. Normally you don't lose your citizenship unless you knowingly and willingly renounce it. It might depend on the country &if you have to make a renunciatory oath renouncing all other citizenship when you take up your husband's citizenship. I suggest that you contact the Department of State in Washington D.C., citizenship unit, before you do anything. They should be able to advise you.
