Action on Pending I-485 petition for adjustment of status

File application i-485 on behalf of my wife who came into US on a K-1 visa. INS held interview in 10/2000. During the interview we aere asked to sumbit additional documentation and told that a decision would be reached with 2-3 months of the documents being submitted. Document were submiteed 11/2000. but no update of status from INS, repeated visits and letters to INS have been waste of time. Are there any legal remedies?

The problem I see is that the fingerprints have expired, so that even if INS wanted to approve this case, they could not without new fingerprints, for which they have to send your wife an appointment. If you have contacted supervisors and alll further action appears futile, the only way to get INS to act would be to file a mandamus action in federal court. You may need to hire a lawyer.
