Re: Extra income on website for H1B holders

You asked about running a separate business while working under an H1B visa.

The visa allows you to remain in the country and allows you to work. You are a legal resident as long as the visa is valid and have all the rights and duties accompanying that status. There are no further restrictions on full scope visa holders.

It's commonly a point of contention whether people in the country unlawfully may operate businesses lawfully. Some camps believe that they contribute to the economy and as long as they are not given tacit approval should be encouraged to operate lawfully. Other camps believe that they should be discouraged in any economic enterprise and thereby dissuaded from remaining in the country unlawfully.

Your situation is different, and except for some types of business that may require a licensee to be a citizen or LPR then you should run into no problems. As you get up and running, remember to obtain sound legal advice on operating your business. This is the particular type of law that I enjoy the most.

Good luck.

Regards,

Roger
