Legal Question in Immigration Law in Pennsylvania

J1 to R visa or green card

Hi

I am J1 doctoral student at a theological seminary in USA. An American Christian Congregational church which is a mainline evangelical denomination would like to hire me as their minister. I have not been a member of this mainline denomonation, but a member of an American Baptist church which is also a mainline evangelical denomination in US. Under what legal provisions and terms can this church hire me as their minister provided the 2 year home residency for my J1 status is waived. Can this church apply for R visa for me, or not since I have not been a member within their church? Can they apply for H visa or can they apply for green card? Please let me know any legal ways or alternatives for being hired by this church.

Many blessings

If they are both mainline angelican, it may be possible to get an R-1. We can also help you with the waiver.
