Car Insurance

If an unlicensed driver is still listed as a driver on a car insurance policy, would that person be covered by insurance in case of an accident?

Lack of a license does not prevent liability insurance coverage. Standard policy language covers "insureds," as defined in the policy, including named insured and resident relatives. There may be other reasons the carrier could disclaim (e.g., if driving without owner's permission; if the car was not listed on the policy but was owned or regularly used by the driver).

Certainly, this fact should not give the unlicensed person any comfort in driving without a license. It's a criminal offense and could lead to longer suspensions, and likely would make it very hard and expensive to get insurance in the future.
