definition of collapse

The definition of collapse will probably be in the insurance policy. I do recall a decision from an appeals court in our state a couple years that which held that a homeowners could not collect under a collapse provision where a wall or floor sunk a couple inches and needed extensive engineering to be fixed, when it did not actually collapse. Since your Wall did fall down, and it seems like it happened reasonably quickly, there would seem to be a good argument that it is covered. If you are in the Philadelphia area, feel free to give me a call to discuss your claim further. I have dealt with quite a few insurance coverage disputes.

The above does not constitute legal opinion and is offered for the purposes of discussion only. The law differs in every jurisdiction, and you should not rely on any opinion except that of an attorney you have retained, who has a professional duty to advise you after being fully informed of all the pertinent facts and who is familiar with the applicable law.
