Legal Question in Insurance Law in Pennsylvania
Injury from a car accident--what's my next step?
I was involved in an accident where another driver failed to stop at a stop sign and hit me. My car was totalled and I was taken to the hospital because of a back injury. I was told by a doctor that I had a muscle spasm due to the whiplash action from the accident. I also have neck pain and headaches.
I am a very active athletic person. I run marathons and teach a karate class.
Unfortunately, I can't do these things now because of the injuries.
I have full tort on my insurance. I haven't been contacted by the other insurance agency yet concerning the injury.
What should I do next?

Unlike many of the questions posted, this is an easy one: now that your medical situation has stabilized, you should consult an attorney. Get recommendations from friends, co-workers, whatever. There's no charge to see attorneys on a contingent fee case, and I'm glad to hear you have the full tort option.
You should report the accident to your own insurance company, if you haven't done so yet; they will cover medical expenses, lost wages if you're out of work for a while, and pay for your car if you have collision coverage, and maybe a rental replacement if you have that option.
