My insurance company refuses to pay

My car was insured on the 04/13/02 and was in an accident on 04/17/02. My insurance company refuses to pay the dealership because the said I let my insurance lapse. Now the dealership is suing me.

The issue is whether or not the insurance company gave you prior notice of their intent to cancel the policy if you didn't pay your premium by a certain date. If they did, you are out of luck. If not, you should consult an attorney.
