Legal Question in Insurance Law in Pennsylvania
Insurance
I have never drove a car due to my poor eyesight. For a number of years, I have owned a car, paid the bills on it, insured it, and my adult daughter drove it. She eventually moved and I took the car off the road. I recently put the car back on the road with a friend as the licensed driver. I received the insurance policy, and within two months I received an email stating that my insurance was going to be cancelled because my friend's name was not on the title or on the bank account that the monthly payment came out of.When I received the cancellation notice, it stated that I had an accident and violations that I didn't report to them. I never had either. I called them, emailed them and never got a legitimate answer. To put my friend on the title means that I have to transfer the title, get a new registration and a new inspection and tag. This is extremely costly as I have just recently done all of this. Is it illegal for me to own a vehicle? I know of many elderly people that own vehicles and have lost or not renewed their licenses and they have people driving them around in their car.
