Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Pennsylvania
My friend's ex-wife abandoned their two little girls three years ago. He has to put a restraining order against her because she had threatened to kill him and kidnap the girls. My friend recently saw pictures of his girls posted on the Facebook profile of this woman's brother. He is very upset about this because this man has nothing to do with the girls and is not helping nor do they care about the girls. The pictures were posted without their permissions. The girls are minors (5 and 9 years old). Is there anything he can do to have this guy remove the pictures without compromising their security?

As a Franchise Attorney I can't advise on security issues. I can say the copyright to the pictures belongs to the person who took them. If they are published on Facebook without the copyright holder's consent, this is a violation of copyright law and Facebook could be so informed. The girls may also have privacy rights that are being invaded. Consult with a IP Intellectual Property or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
