Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Pennsylvania
Who owns the rights to the images I created?
Three weeks ago I took on a web design project for an Adult Subscription Website. Usually I ask for half up front, and half upon completion, although this time I failed to collect the deposit. I was five hours away from being 100% finished with the entire website when I received an email from the client, saying they decided to have someone else do the design. They deleted everything that I did, changed the hosting account passwords, and stopped responding to me. It's my fault for not requesting the deposit, and I don't expect to be compensated for that. Although they're using the logo that I created as a watermark on all of their pictures and video, in addition to using a banner that I created. They didn't pay me for anything, so do I still own the rights to those images? What do I do at this point?

You need to consult with an attorney to flesh out the exact facts and time line for your work. You should immediately copyright the work and have an attorney make contact with the company. If you are in Southeastern PA feel free to contact me.
