Is it possible for a word like ''hallowed'' to be trademarked or would it receive trade dress?

Re: trademark protection

it depends mainly on the goods or services associated with the word "hallowed" and if there are any other similar uses of "hallowed" by other parties. As far as a trade dress, that is usually something that one uses to describe the color, shape or otherwise look of a brand, as opposed to the letters HALLOWED. you can conduct a free preliminary search at the Trademark office website (www.uspto.gov) and type in hallowed into the search field. you are going to want to be careful in that other marks may stand in the way of registration which you may not find (such as a mark which is spelled with 1 'l' called halowed). Further, the USPTO website will not show uses in commerce for which no application was filed. Feel free to call with further questions, Justin Lampel 847.845.4345
