Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

1000 hours of work

I was hired for part time in February of this year and have now worked over 1000 hours as of last month and am still working at least 60 hours every two weeks...Aren't I entitled to paid holidays for just Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do not need any benefits but would like to be paid for Holidays. Where do I stand..--

Re: 1000 hours of work

You asked about paid holidays.

There is no requirement that an employer pay for any time not actually worked. Many employers do give paid time off as a benefit, such as sick or vacation time or holiday pay. These benefits are not required by law but seem to be part of the competitive marketplace for employees. The same as if one employer pays higher wages for a certain set of skills than another employer.

You are of course free to switch to an employer who offers paid holidays to employees in your class.

Regards,

Roger
