In the abscence of a contract providing otherwise an employer can dictate the terms of employment including requiring an employee to take tests which the employee might deem irrelevant. The only exception would be if the tests were a means of enforcing a discriminatory policy. For example, courts have struck down physical fitness tests as discriminatory against women where the tests were not reflective of the needs of the job.
