Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania
if my contract at work states black and white that if a loved one passes away including inlaws you are to receive 3 days off (paid). however i am seperated with my wife but still involved with her family , my wife lives with her parents. since i am married and it states black and white in contract should i still be entitled to this benefit?

It is unlikely that you have a contract at work that states this, unless you are a union employee governed by a collective bargaining agreement. Rather, it is likely that your employee handbook states this and the handbook will have a page indicating that it is not a contract. In any event, in Pennsylvania, you are either married or you are divorced. Separated is not a legally recognized status. Therefore, you are still married.
